Who we are
Snapisodes is made by ConsultX s.r.o., IČO 08973288, Dolní Dobrouč 149, 561 02 Dolní Dobrouč, Česká republika (the data controller). Contact: apps@consultx.cz.
What the app does with your data
Snapisodes keeps the episode name and your comment for every photo. For JPEG photos it can also write them into the photo file itself (standard XMP/IPTC fields); you can turn this off in Settings. For HEIC photos, videos and other formats they are kept only in the app's database on the phone.
No account with us, no ads
The app has no server of its own, sends nothing to us and contains no advertising or analytics. We cannot see your photos, episodes or comments.
Backup
The database of episodes and comments and your comment templates are part of the Android backup to your phone's Google account, if you have it turned on. On request and once a week the app also saves a backup file to Downloads/Snapisodes, and on request XMP files for your computer.
Network use
Only these optional features use the network, never our servers:
- Episode map downloads map tiles from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org); they learn which area you look at, not your photos. Tiles are cached on the phone.
- Dictation passes audio to the speech recognition service of your phone (typically Google); on-device recognition is preferred when available.
- Place name suggestions pass the GPS coordinates of one photo to the phone's geocoder. Automatic episodes and the route of an episode use it the same way. Can be turned off in Settings.
- Weather in an episode (off by default) sends the date and the coordinates of that day's photos, rounded to about 1 km, to Open-Meteo (open-meteo.com) without any identifier.
- Delete from OneDrive too (off by default, Pro): after you sign in with your Microsoft account in the browser, the app talks directly to your OneDrive through Microsoft Graph. Microsoft grants access to your OneDrive files; the app works only in the folder you choose, compares the photo's checksum (for a JPEG possibly the image data, downloading the file for that) and after the waiting period moves it to the OneDrive recycle bin. It uploads nothing and deletes nothing for good. The sign-in is encrypted on the phone and not backed up. Disconnecting in Settings signs out; you can also revoke access at account.microsoft.com.
Features that send nothing
Steps and distance of an episode (off by default) are only read from Health Connect on the phone after you allow it. Search by photo content recognises what a photo shows with a model inside the app, without internet. Import from Google Takeout reads only the files you pick. Temporary photos are written by the camera only into the app's private folder; they are not in the gallery, not backed up and delete themselves after the chosen time.
Location
The app does not track your location. It only reads GPS coordinates already stored in your photos (map, place names, ending an event when you're home).
Permissions
Photos and videos (to show and organise your library and write comments into JPEG files), media location, microphone for dictation (only while you dictate), notifications for the ongoing episode, and optionally media management and Health Connect steps and distance.
Pro purchase
Payment is handled entirely by Google Play. The app only learns whether Snapisodes Pro is active on your account. It never sees any payment details.
Deleting your data
Uninstalling removes the app's database, settings and temporary photos. Comments written into JPEG files stay in the photos; you can remove them in the app. Backup files in Downloads/Snapisodes can be deleted like any other file.
Children
The app is not directed at children.
